Do I need an accounts package?
As LabManager is very good at doing your sales invoicing (per job or as a summary), statements, payment allocations and controlling your debtors, you only need to provide the transaction totals to your bookkeeper/accountant for entry into your main accounts.
OPTION 1
Once a month email or print the Manager's Financial Report from LabManager
for your accountant/book-keeper. (Report menu > Accounting > Managers Financial Report).
Record your expenses on a spreadsheet or your book-keeper's recommended application, and ask your book-keeper to give you access to your accounts. These may be in paper form but more likely your book-keeper/accountant will be using an accounts program like Sage.
Let your book-keeper/accountant know that in addition to the Manager's Financial Report, LabManager can export to several formats. See the CSV Exporter.
OPTION 2
You don't have a 'close contact' book-keeper/accountant and wish to record your transactions yourself and just hand these over to an accountant for the end of year stuff.
Once a month email or print the Manager's Financial Report from LabManager. (Report menu > Accounting > Managers Financial Report). Enter the sales totals into your favourite spreadsheet or paper-work.
Track your expenses using one of many free applications or simple spreadsheets. Also consider a low-cost commercial accounting program.
Accounting Programs
These only need to be small low-cost applications as you don't have to enter a large amount of transactions. Since LabManager handles all your jobs and individual invoices, you only need to enter the monthly totals into your accounts. Ask a book-keeper to help you set this up. Let your book-keeper/accountant know that in addition to the Manager's Financial Report, LabManager can export to several pre-defined CSV formats. See the CSV Exporter. In short, you don't need to export to a financial accounts package but if you do then many major formats are currently supported. Ask Transactor Support if you require another format.
